Hi. I’m Amy: student of the Word, a jack-of-all-trades, an architect of ideas, and a self-professed information hoarder.
Personally, I’m a sassy little Cajun woman born and raised just south of Baton Rouge. I love to cook, create, and write. To me, there’s nothing better than writing fictional parallels to the things I’ve learned; the experiences I’ve had or witnessed; and my culture and it’s flavor.
Professionally, I’m a publishing creative, marketing strategist, and graphics designer with more than fifteen years of experience in Faith-Based Publishing. I’ve worked with celebrities, New York Times best-selling authors, and several of the major publishing houses.
In the past, my skills have earned me jobs as the administrator of a government office, a legal assistant at a major law firm, and director of development for a multi-faceted ministry. I’ve even held a seat on the board of directors for one of the largest women’s non-profits in the country.
I’m most proud, however, to be the mom of four boys and one daughter-in-love. I also got to marry one of my childhood best friends, Kevin. The only thing I cherish more than getting to grow up with him… is getting to grow old with him.
We currently reside in the deep south with three of the kiddos, and our minou, Noonie. In 2020, we’re expecting our first grandbébé.
Her Specialties
Primarily, I work with traditionally and self-published authors with everything from concept and editing, to cover design and marketing. Some of my other responsibilities include – web design, branding, logo design, social media strategies, copywriting, consulting, and video and audio editing.
My favorite projects consist of working with authors to flesh out their prose, defeat writer’s block and take their book from idea to best-seller! As an independent author, I hit the best-seller list and sold over 40,000 copies of my book in the first year. I know how exciting it is to work so hard on a book and be able to spread your message to the masses.
I’m just a person, a lot like you. I have a story, hopes, dreams, and a family; some of it beautiful and some of it not. On more than one occasion it took God’s love and mercy to pull me out of prisons I’d built with my own mind. I’ve made mistakes and am far from having it all together but, day by day, I get a deep glimpse into humanity and what LOVE truly is. I’m a woman with a message and I have creative ways of expressing it. MRM and the amazing clients I get to work with play a big part.
Her Recent Projects
Most recently, I was able to work with an author on a big project. It consisted of editing, cover design, interior design, a companion study guide, formatting, book sales page design, book description, comparison, keywords and categories research, mock scene graphics, accounts setup, video editing, and more. I have several similar projects coming up in 2020 that will include developmental editing and marketing. I’m ridiculously excited about it!
- A few of the MRM ladies. I ♡ them.
- My work space – when I’m not at the kitchen table.
- My Cajun culinary art. Mmm, ça c’est bon!
Her Education & Training

Some things you might not know about me:
1. I put ice in my café au lait.
2. I used to manage a Christian rock band.
3. I’m a certified forensic pathology investigator and I carry a badge.
Also of interest: I have DNA from every continent (from 13% to 31% from each), except Antarctica. I’m a child of the world. My ethnicity is Cajun (French), but I have red hair and green eyes. Obviously, Scots DNA is strong. #ClanGrant
I have an Associates Degree in Business Administration. I’m short too few credit hours in Journalism to justify never having obtained my Bachelors, but I chose to start my family instead. I began designing websites in 1998 when all we had available was notepad and Dreamweaver. Things have drastically changed since then. I stumbled into publishing quite by accident, but it quickly became something I loved. I’m so giddy when working on a new book project and doing research for an author. I’ve found that I thrive on words, facts, figures, stats, and anything that involves challenging myself to learn more about my craft.
I’ve attended, led, taught workshops, hosted round tables, and consulted at many conferences over the last fifteen years. Some include, Allume (Relevant), Blissdom, She Speaks, A Woman Inspired, Writer’s Craft, Inker’s Con, and Indy Writers.
Some of my mentors include:
- Joanna Penn
- Mark Dawson
- Chandler Bolt
- Nick Stephenson
- K.M. Weiland
- David Gaughran

I am professionally trained in Photoshop, Acrobat, InDesign, Premier, Illustrator, and Scrivener. I’ve completed a number of online courses for publishing, digital marketing, content management, web and book cover design, SEO, and others. I’m also Facebook and Pinterest certified.
My maiden name is Grant, as in Amy Grant. I get asked to sing often. The problem is, I can’t carry a tune. I also couldn’t ever publish anything under that name and expect it to show up in a search engine. The name is taken, like really taken.
